Hamilton Group Riding for the Disabled is one of 54 independently financed and managed groups throughout New Zealand affiliated to New Zealand Riding for the Disabled.

Our RDA programmes teach equestrian skills with the objective of developing, increasing, and improving:

  • physical abilities

  • communication and concentration

  • self-esteem and confidence

  • social skills

  • achievement and independence

  • sporting, recreational, and vocational opportunities

We cater to riders from the age of 3 years upwards. Individual programmes are designed to suit the needs, abilities, and personal goals of the rider. These are developed collaboratively with the coach, therapists, teachers, riders, and their support people. Riding and equestrian skills are transferable to many aspects of daily life, and interactions with the horse, and the effects of its movement, have significant therapeutic benefits.
